SW Manchester Nordic Walking started out 6 years ago as ‘Walk and Tone’ and has now developed into a full programme offering Tasters, Learn to Nordic Walk courses, regular Wellbeing, Adventure and Workout Walks.

We are passionate about getting more people to exercise outdoors, to get back to nature, breathe in some fresh air and explore the beautiful countryside around us.

In SW Manchester we are lucky enough to have Sale and Chorlton Water Parks, the River Mersey, the Bridgewater Canal and many lovely National Trust properties just on our doorstep.

Nordic Walking? “No way!” I said 6 years ago. But…I tried it…was hooked in 5 minutes….was qualified as an Nordic Walking Instructor 3 days later and now take my poles with me everywhere.

As a Fitness Instructor/Personal Trainer by profession I always look for ways to get the maximum benefit with the least amount of time from whatever I do. Incorporating the whole body into walking just makes so much sense. The use of Nordic Walking poles enable us to keep the whole body fit, burns more calories and the possibility of walking much faster with very little extra effort. The other benefits of being outdoors and socializing at the same time make it a no brainer!

I have always enjoyed exercise but latterly it seemed to be inside. It was when I became ill that I found myself walking around my local streets and feeling better whilst I was walking. My wonderful Pilate’s instructor, Anita, happened to be a Nordic Walking instructor too and suggested I give it a go. From the moment I felt the poles in my hands I was hooked. I signed on a course October 2014 and have not looked back! I feel like a different person now and have completed the Community walk leader course 9/4/2015 and am always looking forward to the next walk.
